Encampment Tour Route
The Encampment Tour Route is a fantastic way to explore the historical significance of these grounds. It’s a 10-mile driving loop featuring nine major stops, including monuments, statues, and historic buildings such as:
National Memorial Arch
- Built in the early 20th century, this large archway commemorates the sacrifices made by the Continental Army and General George Washington.
Wayne Statue
- Standing approximately 14 feet tall, this statue depicts General Anthony Wayne on horseback. The monument honors his military accomplishments during the Revolutionary War.
Washington Memorial Chapel
- This Gothic Revival-style chapel includes a replica of the Liberty Bell and the Veterans Wall of Honor. Constructed between 1903 and 1917, it serves as a tribute to George Washington.
This loop is best experienced by vehicle for first-time visitors. You can take the tour at your own pace, with the route taking anywhere from 20 minutes to three hours, depending on how long you spend at each stop.
