SPCA Programs Supporting the Community
Montgomery County SPCA’s impact expands beyond the shelter to community-focused programs designed to support local pet owners, reduce shelter overcrowding, and ensure more animals can stay safe and healthy in loving homes. These initiatives make vital resources more accessible to local families and strengthen the overall welfare of pets throughout Montgomery County.
Prevent-A-Bull: A low-cost spay/neuter program specifically for bully breeds. Remaining February dates include Friday 2/20, Wednesday 2/25, and Friday 2/27.
SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Program): Helping eligible pet owners access affordable spay/neuter services.
Volunteer & Foster Programs: Community members can donate their time or temporarily open their homes to animals in need. Fostering plays a critical role in socializing pets, easing shelter overcrowding, and preparing animals for adoption.
Big Things Ahead
Shelter representatives shared that they are “starting some big things in Montgomery County that will expand as we continue to grow,” with the goal of increasing access to services and strengthening support for pets and families in Montgomery County.
“There’s a lot going on here right now. It’s a really exciting time. We have a new building that’s going to open sometime next year, [we’re] increasing collaborative programming to better serve our community…There are huge exciting things happening,” shared Meredith Davis, Montgomery County SPCA’s Community Engagement Manager.
